Engine and Transmission

There are two engine options for Sierra HD pickups: a 6.6L V8 gas engine and a 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. The standard gas engine produces 401 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 464 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm, while the Duramax engine generates 470 horsepower at 2800 rpm and 975 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm. Both Sierra HD engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission for flawless shifting.

Towing Capabilities

The Sierra 2500 and 3500 are both excellent choices for drivers with heavy-duty towing needs. On the 2500 HD, the Duramax Turbo-Diesel Engine offers a maximum towing capacity of 21,870 pounds. On the 3500, this engine provides a maximum towing capacity of 36,000 pounds.

Pickups in the Sierra HD lineup come with a GMC trailering package that includes a trailer hitch, receiver hitch, hitch platform, connectors, and electrical harness. With the Hitch Guidance feature, you can monitor your hitch and trailer on an in-cabin display throughout the entire towing process, from attachment to arrival.

Exterior Features

Standard exterior features on the Sierra HD include a CornerStep rear bumper, twelve cargo tie-downs, and cab-mounted cargo area lamps. The 2500 comes with 17-inch silver wheels and all-season tires, while the 3500 comes with 18-inch silver wheels and all-terrain tires.

The available GMC MultiPro tailgate is an innovative feature that makes loading, unloading, and hauling cargo more efficient by offering six possible configurations. Other convenient available features include a spray-on bedliner, power-adjustable mirrors, and retractable assist steps with LED perimeter lighting.

Interior Features

With two full bench seats, both Sierra HD pickups can seat up to six passengers. The front bench is a 40/20/40 split that has an under-seat storage compartment, and the back seat is a 60/40 split that can be folded up on either side to accommodate more cargo in your cabin. Interior features in the Sierra HD include a 6-speaker audio system, a manual tilt steering column, power windows, USB charging ports, and rubberized vinyl floor coverings.

Smartphone Connectivity

Inside both Sierra HD models, you can find a 7-inch GMC infotainment touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can use these features to sync your phone to the truck for a more personalized experience. With the help of natural voice recognition, you can make hands-free phone calls or send text and voice messages while driving.
